10/29/07 - Three Monet Moments

This triptych shows three experiments in impressionistic photography (my thanks to my wife who pointed at the windshield and said "Monet").
They each share a common scene and also share one part of the technique - shooting through the windshield of a (parked) car during a heavy rain. This basically describes image #1.
Image #2 was made in a similar fashion to #1 but was done as a 9-shot multiple exposure stepping vertically between shots.
Image #3 was made in a similar fashion to #1 but was done as a slow (0.4 sec) vertical pan.
I think for what it's supposed to represent - an impressionistic painting - #3 would get my vote. Tough choice between 2 & 3 though. Depends on whether you want more (#2) or less (#3) detail. Inability to make up my mind is why the PAD is a triptych : )

I like the left one best. Other too are too much blurry for Monet style IMO. But it's very interesting your experiments. Keep them coming.

Thanks for sharing information about your techniques. I am trying to decide if I have a favorite. I think it is #3, but it is difficult as all are nice.--Rene
