You wouldn't believe how long I spent composing this shot. Spent most of the time working on a horizontal that showed more of the cemetery. Took several like that before deciding that the subject was this tombstone - so emphasize it! Shoot a vertical!
Freeman Patterson cited a statistic during his workshop - the average photographer shoots 85% of his/her images in the horizontal/landscape mode. Based on PAD count I do about 30% vertical. The L-brackets I bought three years ago account for the higher percentage on my part. Prior to that I was probably closer to 10%.
