Got up at 6:30 to photograph trillium. No trillium. Last year I shot them on 4/15 - still not out a week later this year. Looks like another week or so - and then 3,000,000 of them will blanket the forest floor.
On my way home I decided to stop by this old mill (burned down by vandals about 10 years ago & being restored). Walked a distance along the RR tracks (hoping that Sunday would be a trainless day - steep embankment along the railbed would have made encountering a train exciting).
This is a combination of two shots - one normal & one infrared. I created a mask for the tracks and let the rust color show through from the normal image to the infrared - makes for a leading line that stands out.
