Image #4 of 5

The difference between (1) in-camera sharpen "none" and (2) in-camera sharpen "normal" subsequently changed to "none" via NX's Base Adjustments (BA). This is not as expected; there should be no difference if NX correctly (perfectly) adjusts in-camera setting via Base Adjust. See images #1 & #2 for an explanation of this image.
This image should be pure gray throughout - if NX BA truly transformed the image file into what we would have obtained from the camera in the case where the new BA settings had been made in camera.
NOTE WELL - the result of these differences may not be "visible" under many/any? circumstances when the final actual image is output to a printer (almost guaranteed not to be visible when viewing a website). This is just to alert you that they do exist - practical concern or not is for you to decide. See the next image (#5 of 5) to see the differences between two images with identical in-camera settings shot less than 1 minute apart (with no change in NX; simply output a tiff file). The #5 difference image should be pure gray if both images were captured identically as intended. You can see that they are not identical - but in a different way than the current image, #4.
Maybe this entire exercise is "straining at gnats".
