4/2/06 - Tulip Abstract

What a great shooting day! This isn't the catch of the day(IMHO); it's just to get your attention. The best starts here - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/58083823 (10 shots worth)
Couldn't make it to the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC? Never fear - I've brought the blossoms to you in the first six shots at the above link (just keep clicking "next").
And I didn't even have to go down to the Tidal Basin and fight the crowds; just walked less than 1/2 mile out the front door. And after I shot three different types of cherry trees, I was rewarded with a bed of tulips that were just beginning to open. What a day (or did I already say that?).
I noticed that no one cared for yesterday's Bluebell PAD; hope this makes up for it.
On this shot, I carefully lined up a 2nd tulip a few feet behind my subject and threw it way out of focus to give a soft background - and allowed a little complimentary green show through in the background, as well, to balance the green stem in the upper left corner (obviously, flipped the image upside down - since it's an abstract, orientation as compared to reality doesn't matter).

Lovely abstract. Nice color in both the petals and the background.
