One of 3 submissions to complete my Photography as Art workshop assignment. The other two are http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/37628700 and http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/38408066
This is from an idea that I got from a Freeman Patteson book. I've used it before. It's a picture of 5 glasses of water shot from the side with natural light. The glass nearest the camera holds plain water. The other 4 glasses have (one each) red, green, blue and yellow water (from your standard food coloring pack). Arranging the glasses behind the clear (lens) glass allows the colors to be mixed and matched in an endless combination (moving any single glass just a nudge will change the whole image). Changing the camera's position, focus and aperture adds to the mix. Finally, different shapes of glasses (round vs straight edged vs beveled vs cut) stirs things up further. Endless possibilities. In this one, the camera is tilted at an angle (one of the few times I don't use my tripod) for yet another variable.
