Month #36 - Retrospective of Daily Photos posted from 5/04 to 12/09 (most viewers for the month)
And here I am at the end of the 3rd year shooting & posting a daily photo - April 2007. It's springtime in the Blue Ridge mountains (Skyline Drive) and the dogwoods & redbuds are in bloom (and here in "real time", 2/10/10, it's 20 deg. F. and we've had about four feet of snow this month here in Virginia of all places). Here's what I wrote when posting this in 4/07 -
4/11/07 - Skyline Drive Spring
Spring has come to the lower elevations of the Blue Ridge mountains. Higher up in the mountains the temperature was 28(F), there was several inches of snow left over from this past weekend, and it was snowing today at noon. Spring is several weeks away at the 4000 foot level.
This is a interesting time to visit Skyline Drive. You can traverse over 1/2 mile in elevation change in a one hour drive. At the lower end it's spring and at the upper it's still winter. You can fast forward from winter to spring just by starting high and heading low - a complete change of seasons in an hour. Here we have dogwoods, redbuds across the drive, and new leaves everywhere.
