1/6/10 - Sept. 2004 Viewers' Choice (Memorability: High (score: 0.785 ) Pop:3.12)

Month #5 - Retrospective of Daily Photos posted from 5/04 to 12/09 (most viewers for the month)

9/04 - For the 2nd consecutive month - an image from my 1st D-SLR instead of my trusty P&S. I'm finally getting comfortable with the new gear.

As a retired engineer this image - I called it Engineering Marvel - was an early favorite. It was a technical achievement for me (as well as the spider) with my new camera, new tripod, and new 1:1 macro lens for this shot. I worked hard to get near enough and get the camera aligned perfectly with the web so as to get each of those teeny-tiny drops in focus even with a paper thin DOF. This type of capability is what made me move from my P&S to better gear. It paid off. As I look back over these 1st five months of the 5+ year journey, I'm surprised at what I consider a lack of creativity in terms of technique that is so important to me today. I guess, like all things, it took time.
