Cardinal on my deck in the 1st foot of what was to become nearly two feet of snow. At this point it was coming down at the rate of about 2" per hour with high winds blowing the stuff every which way. It's amazing that these creatures survive. There's a pair of Great Blue Heron who are year long residents. Each time I see one in the mostly frozen pond at the end of the street I marvel at how they find food in such conditions. Bring them a can af sardines?
