This is an HDR image - 2 shots, one exposed for the sky and one for the foreground. The shots were processed in Photomatix Pro 3.2 using the program's default settings. The result is a little artificial in appearance but not so much as some the pro photographers who practice HDR "grunge-looks". Interestingly, the latest release now has four presets - 1) Natural, 2) Smooth Skies, 3) Painterly, and 4) Grunge. It also has a non-HDR option called Fuse Exposures. This latter and the HDR Natural option give fairly realistic results. I suspect that Grunge may have its origins with Tony Sweet as it produces results that look very much like his HDR work (not a criticism, just an observation; whatever makes you happy).
