I thought that this was going to be a pretty sunrise morning. Thirty minutes before sunrise, this was a good as it got. Clouds moving in from over my left shoulder socked the place in within 5-10 minutes. At this moment though, Venus was in clear view (upper left) and the moon was visible through thin clouds directly overhead. You can tell that it's pretty dark out (more so than this image appears) by noting the exposure time of 30 seconds at f/8.
As I keep repeating like a broken record, you never know about the cloud cover until it's too late - but staying in bed isn't an option.
