This link - http://www.fotosearch.com/DGV098/sb10063757l-001/ - shows what this plant looks like. It's a salsify or goatsbeard and when it goes to seed as shown in the above link it looks like a dandelion on steroids. This is just one of the seeds up close at larger than life size.
