The white piece is less than 1/8 inch. The little hairs are - well, little. The flower is an amaryllis.
Precise selective focus like this is a snap with the D300's Live View & a tripod. I magnified the white part until it filled the D300's 3" screen and then manually focused. Like I said - a snap.
