A D300 in-camera montage (two image overlay - in this case one in sharp focus and the second way out of focus with the lens wide open which results in a soft dreamy image). This provides a totally different look & feel from a more conventional shot like yesterday's daily photo.
This technique, as far as I can tell, originated with Michael Orton, a Canadian photographer who did this with film slides by mounting two images in a single frame - the Orton Technique. It has since been popularized by others such as Andre Gallant (another Canadian - is it something in the water up north that makes folks like Freeman Patterson and other notable Canadian photographers?) and Tony Sweet.
