Gasp! A photo of a person in Ed's PAD. Ed doesn't do people - especially portraits. Not unless it's for She Who Must Be Obeyed's little theater productions.
I shot cast head shots yesterday for the theater's upcoming production of Twelve Angry Men. Did all twelve in a little less that 30 minutes (yeah, I know, from this example it's not hard to believe - but I did get "catch-lights" in both eyes).
This actor (none of them are "real" actors - several are doing their first show) plays a juror whom he described as being wimpy & afraid all of the time. I think he pretty much hit it here. Way to go, Jack.
Used my two SB800's for the first time in a year together with a black backdrop. Bounced one flash from the ceiling (camera left) and put some light through a translucent umbrella from camera right. Used my D300 in the Commander mode - it did not light the subject, simply fired the SB800's. It's like magic. I got the exposure correct, but really am not sure how to best use those two off camera flashes. Shot RAW, converted to jpeg in Capture NX2 and converted to B&W in Silver Efex Pro (SEP). Since the actors were all of a *certain age* I used SEP's Structure Control to soften the images to make wrinkles less obvious.
