7/19/08 - Turk's Cap Lily

On a trip this week to Shenandoah National Park, I looked in my usual places for this lily. Not out yet. When I got back home I discovered them growing in a neighbor's yard.
I used my Wimberly Plamp (Plant Clamp) to hold a piece of black paper behind the flower otherwise the neighbor's house, 2-3 feet away, would have been a big distraction.
For an interesting B&W version, which shows more details than this color image (spider web in upper & lower right corners) see - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/100386911
