This *should* have contained pictures relating to a reasonably ambitious bike ride from Land's End to John O'Groats. However, the bike trip was cut short owing to an injury to one of our three man party (not me) and the other member (not me) rather pathetically just 'giving up' and so offers a few pictures en route from Penzance to Stroud.

The weather was dire; wet and windy and cold: even so, I very much enjoyed the exertion and excitement of the trip and was sorry to see it come to such an abrupt end. On the positive side, however, I delighted in traditional English countryside with hedgerows and friendly folk, church steeples and spires, peeling bells and babbling brooks, winding lanes, haunting winds and swaying trees, all framed by a quietly definite and absolutely authentic sense of value and Britishness. Although the pictures here don't show it, this is what the First World War poets wrote about and it's well worth saving.
