Born in the UK, raised in Western Australia, his father introduced Harper to the harmonica at an early age. Though his early influences were Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson II and Little Walter and later Stevie Wonder, it was when in Silverton, Colorado that Harper became fascinated with the spirituality and culture of the American Indians and recognised the same qualities in the Australian aborigines. He soon added the didgeridoo to his music, particularly when the lyrics of his songs related to the plight of the aborigines. A great live performer with a growing reputation in the US and Europe as well as back home in Australia, these photos are from his wonderful show in Liverpool, England on 20 December 2008.
