Lefkas aka Lefkada aka Leukas

Part of the Ionian island chain, Lefkas is joined by a short causeway to mainland Greece. c3 hours flying time from the UK to Preveza plus a 40 minute road journey makes it very accessible. The exquisite, lush, mountainous landscapes and gentle climate makes it very attractive.

The island’s larger coastal towns have long-established tourist industries and support a substantial sailing community. Competition for the tourist-euro is high. Jackie and I took a lazy week’s break in the small port-town of Nidri. Its easy pace, beaches, swimming and local tevernas suited us just fine.

Lefkas and its neighbouring islands will comfortably absorb more time and energy that we expended on this visit. We hope to see more.
