In Uladalen, a small and narrow river valley in Oppland county, Norway, you'll find Kvitskriuprestinn, some strange vertical columns made of soil, sand, gravel and pebbles.
They form due to erosion, as rain and running water digs out the loose ground, but is still not able to transport the masses lying compressed and sheltered under
some big stones, so these stone "hats" will gradually rest upon columns growing higher and higher, until they eventually becomes too high and too weak, and collapses
under their own weight. The columns seen here are about 200 years old, and Kvitskriuprestinn is the only geological phenomenon of this kind in Northern Europe.
