A hissing fumarole besides an intensively blue pond, in a low stroke of sunlight at 21:52 PM.
Here at the geothermal area Hveravellir, atop Kjölur in the interior Icelandic highlands. The ponds turns as blue due to minerals and silica
dissolving into the boiling water in the wells, and as the surfaced water cools, silica (SiO2) polymerises and creates the conspicuous colors.
Also note the numerous stepped shelves on the fumarole, each approx. 1cm high.
In the far, the western outskirts of the Hofsjökull/1763m ice cap, the 3rd biggest glacier in Iceland.
