Lupine flats stretches towards Mýrdalsjökull ice cap in the far.
Underneath the eastern part of the ice cap (right side here) lies the vicious Katla volcano, which had its last eruption in 1918.
When this volcano blasts, it creates major and violent floods, due to vast and sudden glacial meltdowns.
And even today, after being dormant for so long, the dirty rivers draining the area still stink of acidic sulphur.
