Eggøya

Eggøya/217m by night, colored by the arctic midnight sun. Eggøya is actually an old crater as well, but the outer half has collapsed into the ocean.
It was originally an island, but later volcanic eruptions have bridged it to the mainland. Note all the driftwood on the beach. These are larch-tree logs from Siberia,
carried to the Arctic sea by the great Russian rivers Ob, Jenesei, Lena. Some logs have been dated back to year 1100 AD, and they may have drifted in the sea for ages,
before they are finally swept ashore here by the winter storms. The beach and the surrounding flats closer to Eggøya is pure quicksand, and thus potentially dangerous.

If looking closely, you might see some tiny orange dots on the beach (i.e. center beach).
Those are not camera hot pixels, but stranded loose buoys from the fishing fleet trafficking arctic waters.

I missed some human figure or something else that could give us a scale reference for the size of the driftwood logs. And also, am I Crazy? Or I could see some wheel tracks on the sand? Motorbikes? No, of course not. - c.a.t.

Stunning photo of a desolate land. Intriguing commentary too. Jean McC., NYC.
