Dresden is in Eastern Germany, 200km south of Berlin, 40km to the Czech border. The river Elbe flows through Dresden. Dresden's nickname is Elbe Florence, to illustrate it's barrock cultural heritage that is still playing an important role in the modern life of the city. Just before the end of the second world war most of Dresden's town center was destroyed in a one night bombardement. After the war many famous buildings have been reconstructed (Semper Opera, Zwinger, Palace Church), some are still in reconstruction (Frauenkirche, Royal Palace). The national park Saxony Switzerland is just 30km far from Dresden. These pictures are my very personal view of Dresden.
