In eleven of the past twelve years, small flocks of cedar waxwings have arrive here in Middleton Wisconsin on my birthday. This year (2003) they augmented their usual diet of berries with a rare bumper crop of flying box elder beetles. A lot of high-speed acrobatic flying resulted, up in the treetops.
These photos were shot from ground level with a 300mm lens and later cropped.
