--UPON REASSEMBLY, BE SURE BOTH BULB SOCKET TANGS ARE CORRECTLY IN PLACE.
NOTE:
BEFORE REASSEMBLING, TAKE THE TACH OUT AND THROUGHLY CHECK THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HOUSING
FOR ANY CRACKS THAT MAY NEED A TOUCH OF SUPER GLUE OR EPOXY TO STRENGHTHEN.
BE SURE ANY DRYING GLUE HAS TIME TO OUT-GAS BEFORE CLOSING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.
--NOW'S A GOOD TIME TO INSPECT THE BULB CIRCUIT BOARD FOR VISUAL DEFECTS

Just dismantled speedo binnacle of my 100/7 from 1977. Mileometer spinning aimlessly. Trip miles fine. Brilliant set of photos and instructions. Points: my speedo has only three pins on l/h/s. Same six on right. Also, I removed both Bowden cables but your photos do not show the rev counter socket. It might be that that side in rather dark.
I would never have attempted this without your superb instructions and photos.
Turns out that my problem did not need glue. One of the white plastic cogs was chewed. My son has access to a three d printer. Might try that. I will put the binnacle together once I have the new cog.

Excellent article. There are several "wicking grades" of LocTite which might short-cut this repair. A drop of one of these can be added as soon as the speedo unit is removed from the main housing. However, be careful to apply only to the gear and not the shaft's support bearing 4mm away.

This is an excellent tutorial. I followed your instructions and my issue is solved. However, I forgot to mark my speedo needle. The needle is lazy in its return to zero mph. How can I correct this?

Excellent page and pictures Randy.
Those circuit boards are now no longer available, so due care and maintenance is vital.
