It's amazing sometimes how much we overlook opportunities which are "...right before us" when seeking images. I took notice of the rich flower beds and flowering shrubs at the campus greenhouses at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where I teach. The proliferation of blooms and nectaring plants were a veritable magnet for butterflies and hummingbirds, and this "mecca" is located not more than 100 yards from my office! How many times in the twenty-seven years I have been here have I overlooked the countless opportunities therein? This year I started carrying camera equipment during lunchtime, and even before and after office hours. Amazed by the variety and opportunities, I brought in the big lenses on weekend mornings for hummingbirds, and used the plethora of butterflies as incentive to finally purchase a macro lens I had been putting off purchasing because I felt I wouldn't have enough opportunity to justify its purchase. Just goes to show that imaging possibilities are generally there, if we will but open our eyes to the opportunities which present.
Glad you enjoyed the galleries and this image of a Papilio glaucus.
