D70 Macro Images

In April 2004 I changed imaging systems, from the Olympus Exx series to a Nikon D70. A subsequent purchase of a Sigma 400mm f5.6 APO Macro D provided me with a walk-around telephoto with Macro capabilities; and a working distance of about two meters. These images are made with that camera + lens setup or with a sigma 105mm macro lens.

These are really stunning! I can't believe you found so many great butterflies, bees and so forth - must have taken a lot of work to accumulate these. ~V~

Peter: Glad you enjoyed this gallery. Late spring and summer is a time that I turn my attention to insects and macro imaging. Most of these images are taken outside the greenhouses on the campus of Southern Illinois University where I teach. The horticulture plots maintained as student labs are a real magnet for instects, particularly butterflies, bees, clearwings, etc. Thanks for the commentary.
