Great Blue Herons are among my favorite imaging subjects. They exhibit the grace and beauty common to all wading birds, but on a larger, more grand, scale. These images of Great Blue Herons were taken here in southern Illinois before 2006. These are early images taken in the first couple of years after I converted to digital imaging. These images are generally not available as prints but this gallery remains to remind me of how far I have progressed. The equipment used for these images has been replaced with equipment better suited to the task of rendering Great Blue Herons as objects d'art.
