WPPD 2020

Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day - 26 April 2020.

Again in 2020 we used the 8x10 Pinhole Camera, with a 0.020 inches (0.51 mm) pinhole for an aperture of f/300.

Being in reduced circulation to avoid Covid-19, and as seems to happen with alarming frequency on WPPD, the weather was very chilly, dreary and drizzly, so Ye Olde Photographer decided to just do a quick study of tabletop work. He started with two bracketed exposures; then after developing the first shot, YOP felt some disappointment in the coverage results obtained using his little wood sighting pegs at the close distance. So he then took a third shot with the camera moved back a bit. The shots were taken with Fuji HR-T X-ray film developed in HC-110 1+63.

The chosen topic was a bonsai ficus benjamina in a ceramic pot made by Ye Olde Photographer a few years back. It is a bit early to have the little trees in full springtime display, so this subtropical that winters indoors had to do.

The next day, the 8x10 negatives were contact printed on 8x10 Ilford MGIV RC paper using the enlarger just as a light source. The resulting prints were scanned on a Canon MG6300 flatbed using VueScan.

The official WPPD submission should appear at this link.
