WPPD 2014

Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day - 27 April 2014.

This year we again used the 8x10 Pinhole Camera, built last year, as revised based on last year's field use. The revisions were strictly mechanical - a swing-out foot to keep the camera from falling over when resting on a table, and a handle to facilitate tripod mounting and carrying it. This year we used film instead of paper - Fuji Super HR-T Green sensitive X-Ray film. This is much less expensive than regular photographic film, but does have some properties that make its use somewhat challenging.

Ye Olde Photographer had a number of responsibilities at an art show reception on this same day, so he revisited a spot near by and did a more thorough project on a subject he touched on in 2005 as part of his first WPPD efforts. The subject is a concrete railroad bridge over the Perkiomen Creek in Oaks, Pennsylvania, just north of where the Perkiomen joins the Schuylkill River. The bridge was part of the Pennsylvania Railroad Schuylkill Division and currently carries a roadway and the Schuylkill River Trail.

It was a relatively nice day but at first this one big cloud seemed to be rotating in place and varying the light intensity quite a bit. Eventually, a sunnier condition prevailed.

YOP's official WPPD submission appears at this link.
