WPPD 2013

Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day - 28 April 2013.

This year we used the newly made 8x10 Pinhole Camera, and film - no! - actually Arista.EDU Ultra RC Paper, Grade #2, to produce paper negatives. Although Ye Olde Photographer definitely finds film easier to work with, the significant cost for even the smallest amounts of 8x10 sheet film skewed the choice toward another try at paper negatives. We re-ran the flash test this year and used a slightly higher level of pre-flash on the paper. The idea could use a little further tweaking but appeared to be the best paper negative results so far.

As backup, we also took a few 4x5 shots with the 8x10's little but older brother. These were taken on Arista.EDU Ultra 100 film. All of the B&W shots shown here are from the negatives, scanned and inverted.

Somewhat unusually, it was a relatively gorgeous day. Ye Olde Photographer picked two possible sites. As they were in opposite directions from headquarters, and we only had a four shot capacity in 8x10 holders, we planned to stop and develop a few between the two sites to see if anything worked. The first site was Lock Ridge Furnace, a late 1800s hot blast iron works in Alburtis, Pa. A quick look at the results were impressive enough that was made the stopping point. More non-pinhole shots of the Lock Ridge site in this gallery.

The official WPPD submission should appear at this link.
