A quick short trip for a change of scene on Easter weekend found us in Woodstock, NY. Besides the famous festival (which actually ended up being held a number of miles away), this small town has been a center for artists for approximately 150 years. The weather was way less than cooperative, when it wasn't raining, the temperatures still dipped near the freezing mark. But we had a good time, a couple of great meals, and got some sense of what the place is like.
Saturday's wanderings took us to Ashokan Reservoir (tied in to Jay Ungar's famous tune) but with winds stirring up occasional whitecaps and temperatures in the low 40s, we didn't do too much outdoor activity.
Sunday was a beautiful clear sunny day, but temperatures were below freezing at the higher elevations. We drove west across the Catskill State Park and made our way down through Hancock, NY, and into the Pocono mountains of Pennsylvania. A late brunch in Honesdale disclosed some railroad equipment for a tourist railroad operation, sitting on tracks behind the diner.
