Tuesday found us making the transition from Seneca Falls to Saratoga Springs. We headed east, then north through Utica, up to Old Forge and across a goodly chunk of the Adirondacks. Approaching Utica the co-pilot's quilt store app reported a place of interest. So we tracked that down, finding it in a complex of former mill buildings that are being revitalized. There was a handy coffee and lunch place next door to the quilt shop, so we indulged. The quilt shop provided just the perfect inspiration for a gift project.
After that break, we continued north of Utica, eventually reaching Old Forge. There we visited the View art center and took in the Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolor, an annual event. There was some really fine work on display in a beautiful gallery space. The center appeared to be quite recently built and also has a theater with a schedule of plays annd other events; quite a magnificent place. There appears to be gratifying support for the arts in what seems like a relatively remote area.
