As we have done for a number of years now, Ye Olde Photographer and his Faire Spouse met our friends from the other end of Pennsylvania at a third location. This year we stayed at a B&B in Havre de Grace, Maryland. The town is at the point where the Susquehanna River enters Chesapeake Bay. The town has been there a good many years, although the British burned a large portion of it during the War of 1812. Waterfowl hunting, both commercial and sport, was a major activity here well into the 20th century, Although some rather massive operations were restricted after the mid-1930s.
There is a lot of boating activity and a number of interesting restaurants in town. No idea how crowded the scene is in summer, but in late November it was a relaxed place to hang out. A few things were closed for the season, but we found plenty to do. We'll show a few iPhone shots of food establishments — and food — here, but provide links to separate galleries for scenery.
Some views of the town's waterfront, and Concord Point Lighthouse, will be found in the Havre de Grace gallery.
The Decoy Museum was open and covered some very interesting art and history.
The Maritime Museum which looked
interesting was unfortunately closed on weekdays through the winter.
We also drove upriver a ways to Susquehanna State Park
to take in an interesting historic site and get some (rather cold and damp) fresh air.
