Philadelphia is home to a number of major sports teams and has developed a large complex to accommodate baseball, football, hockey and basketball. The group of facilities shares a huge parking complex for 23,000 cars and has subway rail access.
Ye Olde Photographer admits to having little interest in sports in general. But when his Faire Spouse was offered a pair of tickets to a Philadelphia Phillies vs Miami Marlins game on 04 June 2013, we accepted. As it turned out, we could not have ordered better weather - temperature in the high 70s (F!), low humidity and clear skies. Game time was 7:05 pm, but we drove down early to stay ahead of weekday rush hour and had time to walk around.
As it turned out, we saw quite a bit of baseball. The Phillies got off to a slow start and were behind 2 - 0 for quite a while. They finally got some points on the board but the 9th inning ended tied 2 - 2. The 10th ended 3 - 3. In the bottom of the 11th, with 2 outs, the Marlins had walked the bases full. And wouldn't you know, John Mayberry, Jr. smacked one into the left field stands. The fans went home happy - at about 11:00 pm! An-n-nd, we each received a Carlos Ruis Bobblehead Figurine, courtesy of Toyota sponsorship -- ooooooh!
Seated quite a ways out and relying on his latest point&shoot toy (a nice Canon G15) YOP was not really equipped to capture action. But he hopes he has provided some idea of the facilities and the experience of a fun evening.
