At the town of Hamburg Pennsylvania we find the Reading Railroad Heritage Museum, a collection of artifacts and the largest collection of rolling stock in the country dedicated to one railroad. The Reading (Yes, that one on the Monopoly game board) was one of the earliest railroads and was built to transport anthracite coal from mines in east-central Pennsylvania to Philadelphia, an attempt to do so more reliably than with the canal boats traveling the Schuylkill River valley.
In February of 2019 Ye Olde Photographer got a notice from Schuylkill River Greenways of a "Hops & Heritage" event that offered a brief tour of the museum followed by a visit to 1787 Brewing Company, a new brew pub a few blocks toward the center of town. The event fee included some light food and a sampling of some of the brews, which were quite good.
As is probably obvious, the weather wasn't terribly cooperative, and the rather short visit precluded a really thorough coverage of what is here. But "one of these days" perhaps Ye Olde Photographer can revisit the site. On warmer weather weekends, a few items of rolling stock are accessible to see the interiors. Some of the equipment here is serviceable, but the bulk of it is pretty much on static display. There is also a "Munchkin Railway" in a fenced area where kids can hand power their way around a small track.
