The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is named thus to avoid it being confused with something centered on the Pennsylvania Rairoad. But having stated that, the PRR once had a colllection of samples of its major series of steam locomotives stashed in a roundhouse in Northumberland and it was the imminent loss of that collection that prompted the creation of this museum. The museum contains gear from a number of other railroads, especially those operating in Pennsylvania.
The museum is located directly across the street, Pa 741, from the Strasburg Rail Road complex. And just down the road is the National Toy Train Museum<, if you like railroading, Strasburg is the place to go!
This visit was a relatively short one following an early afternoon ride on the Strasburg Railroad, Ye Olde Photographer could have spent more time there (and used some additional equipment) but thinks he covered enough to convey some idea of what's there. He finds it a bit unsettling that equipment he rode on or engines he rode behind are now in museums, but so be it!
