2017: On a Saturday, we trekked to NYC Penn Station via New Jersey Transit and connected with our nephew and a friend to enjoy some sightseeing. We wandered through some of Central Park, then meandered toward the Hudson River to arrive at Pier 83 for a Circle Line boat tour out past Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. The weather was somewhat iffy through midday, but cleared off through the afternoon. After the boat ride we Ubered up to Rockefeller Center and indulged in sightseeing from Top of the Rock to get a different view of the city. That was quite fun, and a first for all four of us. Following that we wandered more on foot and eventually had a light leisurely dinner at the West End Bar & Grill.
Being disposed toward traveling light, Ye Olde Photographer just used his (12M-pixel) iPhone 6S and a 10K mAh USB battery pack for gear. The results may not be high art, but documented the trip pretty well. According to the Steps pedometer app running on that iPhone, YOP executed over 25 thousand steps to cover 8.8 miles — guess he's not THAT old! (Of course that did include a trip down to the garden to check the rain gauge before we left home.)
