From Seneca Falls it is only about an hour or so north to the shores of Lake Ontario. The village of Sodus Point is on a bay that is open to the lake. It has also been home to a lighthouse since the early 1800s. The next to the last light is quite a solid stone structure which now houses a museum managed by the Sodus Bay Historical Society. There is a nice park area surrounding the lighthouse.
Farther east there is a beach that filled in after a breakwater was installed to shelter the marine facilities. The area along the beach out to the breakwater is a park offering gorgeous views and some fishing and recreational facilities. After taking that in, we drove eastward a few miles to the town of Fair Haven and enjoyed a late lunch at the Pleasant Beach Hotel where we sat on an outdoor deck overlooking the harbor.
