Independence, is off I-70 in the western end of Missouri, a few miles east of Kansas City. The town is the home of Harry S. Truman who grew up here, married here, and retired here after leaving the presidency. His home is now a National Historic Site. There is a separate vistors' center nearby and several other homes that are identified, at least one is open to see inside. We walked some of the neighborhood which includes an interesting variety of quite nice homes from the late 1800s and early 1900s.
This was part of the Grand Tour 2016, a 5800 mile drive through flyover country!
