Ruhlander was born near Hamburg Germany in 1860. He served apprenticeships and worked at several factories along the
Rhine River. He then spent some time in Cuba before winding up at the Whitall Tatum Company in Millville, NJ. These
are examples of his highly skilled work. The piece at the right is a two-tiered decanter with a total of 16 individual
chambers with stoppers. He was assisted by A. Woodruff Harris in creating this marvel.
