The sulky is just sitting there for display. There is a rimmed concrete(?) tray where the parts
were placed for painting. The parts would then be dried on a rack, part of which is seen on the left.
Painters mixed their own paint by grinding pigments up with oils. Nine to twelve coats were applied, rubbing each with
pumice soap between coats, then several coats of shellac or varnish were applied for gloss - not an instant process!
