Built in 1928 by Vulcan Iron Works in Wilkes-Barre
Pennsylvania; used by Jeddo Coal Company at a strip
mining operation near Hazleton. These were rather
minimalist designs used to shift cars around over
short distances. Designs with the tank over the
boiler and a coal bunker across the rear for compact,
tight space operation go back to the 1850s. They
were likely not given a lot of upgrades over the
decades as they were inexpensive utility items.

Nice shot. That looks like a very old locomotive, even for steam.
