Here is an inside view via the convex cover
seen on the inlet chamber at the left center
of the previous shot. The array of openings are
likely to support poppets for check valves. The
square area in the center is mirror which offers
a view looking upward in the domed surge chamber.
The casting with grooves and slots is likely a
baffle to reduce turbulance in the chamber.
