In many cases, Rebecca is creating a cylinder with no bottom that can be cut to provide textured
lengths of slab. She generally leaves a thin bottom in until throwing is complete to help with
adhesion, then uses a square-ended wood tool to scrape away the bottom down to the bat surface.
