Here we can see the exposure calculator. This was set to the guide number for the
film and bulb combination, then the F-stop could be read corresponding to subject distance.
The big red button was for a bulb test; pressing it produced a small flash visible through
the clear mounting ring around the button. The smaller button to the right of the test button
is for open, manual flash. It is small and recessed a bit to avoid accidental firing.
