In Cooperstown, NY, the Farmers' Museum is a collection of buildings, some moved here from elsewhere in the state, representing farming and a small farming village from the 19th Century. Costumed interpreters demonstrate coopering, apothecary work, blacksmithing, fireplace cooking, spinning, weaving and other skills.
The farm is also active in preserving some endangered strains of farm animals that are no longer used in commercial production.
Directly across route NY 80 from the farm is the Fenimore Art Museum with an emphasis on early American artists plus a large collection of American Indian art, craft and ceremonial objects.
