Argust 24th was a nice day weather-wise, although as a Saturday there was more "tourist traffic" than typical on a weekday. Ye Olde Photographer loaded the C-3 with a 20-exposure roll of Kodak Panatomic-X. YOP set his Gossen Digisix to ISO 32 as a base, and used incident metering.
YOP drove up to the upper Lehigh Valley, traveling from Nothampton toward Bath on PA 329 and PA 987. This Nor-Bath route parallels a rail trail on the former Northampton & Bath right-of-way which he wanted to check out anyway. The railroad served some cement mills in the area, some of which still exist. The shots seen here are the Keystone Cement Company. When driving along, the road seems to be passing through wooded countryside, but a satelite view shows there are massive quarries cleverly hidden by plantings; some still open, others full of water.
YOP took a number of shots of the cement plant, then thought to photograph some historic cement kilns in the town of Coplay on his way home. Alas, it was some sort of community day there, and the town was nearly impassible, so that idea was quickly dropped!
At home Ye Olde Photographer had a bit of bad luck. This roll, handloaded from a bulk roll quite some time back suffered a break in the tape attaching the film to the spool in the cassette as a rewind was attempted. As a result the film was light struck when attempting to remove the cassette. (Shoulda done it in the darkroom -- oh well.) The roll was developed in Kodak HC110, Dilution H (1+63) for 9:30 at 70ºF. While some frames had mostly the edges lightstruck, YOP was able to crop and produce reasonable results. (The images here are scanned from the negatives with a PrimeFilm XE.) The color shots are with an iPhone 13 Pro just for a record.
The "official" submissions from multiple participants will eventually be viewable via the Argus Collectors Group site.
