Given that 36 exposures are a lot of shooting when your project is a little vague, we held a couple dozen shots over to find something interesting to shoot the next day.
We wandered over to an old family burial ground in Zeiglerville and shot a few frames. The ground has a sign: "Underkoffler," but in some writings is referred to as the "Underkoffler-Schlotterer" cemetery. The early stones are quite difficult to read - partly because of age related deterioration - but also because they are in an old German! This area was settled by a high percentage of German or German speaking "Pennsylvania Dutch" folks, thus the text. Our local historians report that a weekly newspaper in a nearby town was published in German into the early 20th century.
The old folks were very precise; most stones list date of birth and date of death, and also how long they lived: xx Jahre (years), xx Monaten (months) und xx Tage (days). A significant percentage of the stones reflect children, some only a few months old.
Having parked in a small shopping strip (familiar - there's a Rita's Water Ice there!) we took advantage of the opportunity to photograph some Canada Geese hanging around the park-like space in front of the stores. A few shots around the yard at home finished off the roll. The roll was processed in a nearby pro shop and we had an optional CD thrown in for a few extra dollars in to avoid a bunch of scanning.
